This project was part of our Visual communication module at Hyper Island. I was the project manager, and spent considerable time with the identity and identity manual for the project. The module before, we had worked with idea generation and in groups researched and planned an entire concept around a new business idea. This module around, we got the chance to take the role of agencies and do the graphical profiles for one another’s projects.
Excerpt from the identity manual:
“The logotype is a combination between a hard black typeface and a soft, liquid symbol. The Beehive symbol draws attention with its powerful, fiery color. The curved lines starts from the right and curls towards the middle, creating a feeling of motion and action, as if the event is slinged out through the Beehive community.”
“As a contrast to this alive and colorful symbol we have the BeeHive wordmark. It’s written in a Serifa which feels structured, clear and professional. The text has high legibility and is completely black over white background (alternate white on black background). Since BeeHive isn’t just a party site but also a culture event site we felt strongly with communicating the logotype with a feeling of youth, simplicity and professionalism. We strongly feel that the combination between the hard lines and soft curves creates a harmony which is pleasant to the eye.”
